Terms of Service
Last updated 6 November 2026
These terms apply when you sign up for or use Wakali Billing, a service run by Wakali Labs in Nairobi, Kenya. By creating an account you agree to them on behalf of yourself and your organisation.
Your account
- Give us accurate details and keep them up to date.
- Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what is done under your account, including by staff you add.
- You must be able to agree to these terms on behalf of your organisation.
Free trial and fees
Your first 30 days are free, and no card is needed. After that, an ISP or organisation account pays the following, unless we have agreed different rates with you:
- 3% of its monthly hotspot collections
- KES 25 for each active PPPoE client, each month
- a minimum of KES 500 a month
Your first bill comes the day your free trial ends, for the rest of that month's minimum or PPPoE charge. After that, invoices go out on the 1st of each month with anything already charged taken off, and you can pay by card or M-Pesa through Paystack. Home accounts are not invoiced. If we change our fees, we will tell you before the change applies.
If an invoice is not paid
You have 3 days to pay an invoice. After that we may suspend the account. That locks your dashboard and stops all internet through your routers, including anything else connected to them, until the invoice is paid. Your customers are told only that the network is unavailable.
Collecting from your customers
Customer payments are collected through the payment method you set up and sent to the destination you choose. If you use M-Pesa without keys of your own, the prompt comes from Wakali Labs and your customers see that name on it, but the money goes straight to your destination and Wakali does not hold it. You are responsible for those details being correct, and for what you sell, your prices, your refunds and your own taxes.
Your network and your customers
- You are responsible for your network, your customers and any licence you need to run them, including from the Communications Authority of Kenya.
- You are responsible for having the right to give us your customers' information, and for treating it as the law requires.
- You give Wakali the access to your routers that it needs to run the service, and you can remove it at any time.
What you must not do
- break the law, or use the service for fraud
- send spam or messages people have not agreed to receive
- try to get into accounts, systems or data that are not yours
- interfere with the service or overload it
We may suspend an account that does any of these.
Availability
We work to keep Wakali running and your data safe, but we cannot promise that it will never be interrupted. It also depends on things outside our control, such as M-Pesa, SMS networks, internet links and your routers.
Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses such as lost profit or lost customers, and our total responsibility for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 3 months before it arose. Nothing here removes a right that the law says cannot be removed.
Ending your account
You can stop using Wakali at any time by writing to us, and you remain responsible for fees already due. We may end an account that breaks these terms. How we keep information afterwards is set out on the Privacy page.
Changes and the law
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell account holders. These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya deal with any dispute.
